Reality for our family is getting closer by the day and before I haul out the giant bag of stationary and school uniforms for sorting and labelling, I couldn't help but spend a minute to go back and think about what an amazing family holiday break it has been.
From Christmas with family in Adelaide to trekking up to the Sunny Coast with besties, to just being sloths at home. The memories we made and moments we shared were worth more than anything I could dream of.
It doesn't matter what age your kids are or how many you have, or even where you go. You can make memories anywhere.
I have grand plans to venture out and show my kids the world and know that we will take those opportunities when they come, but I also love chucking the tent in the car (and everything including the kitchen sink) and driving across our beautiful country.
This summer my heart is happy and my memory chest is full as I have watched my kids laugh with their cousins, snorkelling chasing fish, hunt for kangaroos and emus driving through the Hay Plains, stand up on a surfboard for the first time, ride waves into the beach on a bodyboard, build sandcastles, dig holes, bury limbs in the sand, jump off the side of a jetty! Let the breeze of a boat ride take flying arms and messy hair high into the sky, walk through rainforests, eat like it may be our last meal, indulge in treats of ice cream, lemonade and lollies, ride bikes, scooters and skateboard with friends new and old, watch thousands of movies and read books of every sort. We Lived life to the max, loved everything we did, laughed with friends, giggled at each other's craziness, smiled, relaxed, slept in the day under the sun, partied until late, shouted woo hoo in excitement, napped in a hammock and spent hours reminiscing, talking and planning our next trip away.
The world is an amazing place and there are thousands of ways to see it. Whether you pack your car full of food, DVD's and DS games and drive for hours on end, fly in a plane or take a cruise on Carnival, there is no better way than to do it with the family and friends you love.
I hope you enjoyed your summer as much as we did and are now ready to face 2017 with all the adventure and incredible things it has to offer for you whether you are a brand new mum, about to wave your first child off at school or last or hoping this year will be cruisey and a little less stressful than last. I am here for you and ready to help you be inspired, have a laugh, learn a tip or two about parenting and help you find your community and place in the world.
